Packing straps
Packing straps are used in a process of strapping, or banding. In the strapping process metal or plastic straps are used to unitize, palletize or bundle products together. Strapping is used in a variety of industries from shipping large industrial equipment and lumber to reinforcing cases in e-commerce fulfillment centers. Straps are available in many different strengths with specific grades and classifications. It is important to understand these grades and how they can affect your material choice when choosing your packaging.
Plastic strap
Plastic packing straps are made from polyester or polypropylene. PET straps (polyester) are stronger but more expensive than PP bands (polypropylene). Basically, it is considered that PET straps with the same dimensions 2x are stronger than PP straps. When considering which plastic strap you should choose, it depends on the weight of the load, how stable it should be, what is your price range and in what conditions the goods will be transported and lastly what are you transporting.
Composite corded strap & Textile strap
Packaging with composite and textile tape is high quality and comfortable. The composite tape is used as a substitute for steel strips, as it is cheaper, lighter, and safer to handle. The same can be said for the textile strap. The main difference between the corded/composite strap and the textile strap is that the composite strap is more robust and less flexible and it can hold more force for the same strap width as the textile strap.
