ZONE450F impulse pedal sealer

ZONE450F is an impulse pedal sealer. The wire in the bar heats only while the jaws are closed and cools under them straight after, so the seal is set before the bag leaves the machine and the bar is cold to the touch between bags.

The seal is 450 mm long, which takes a bag mouth up to that width in one press, and 2 to 5 mm wide. The heating time is set between 0 and 2.5 seconds, which is how you match the machine to the film.

ZONE450F is used in food processing, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and hardware industries, as well as in warehouses and distribution centres. It seals bags for goods such as food ingredients, medical products, electronic parts and retail items. The machine is suited to medium and large bags made of PE, PP or multi-layer film and can be placed where packing is done, next to filling or weighing stations or at the end of a production line.

Heating time is found by trial: it is started short and tenths are added until the seal holds, because too long burns the film through. The mouth of the bag lies flat across the whole bar, without folds, since a fold is where a bag opens later. After the seal the operator waits one to two seconds before taking the bag and pulls it away sideways, because pulling it forward while the seal is soft tears it open. The jaws are never closed on an empty bar, as that burns the PTFE cloth.

The jaws are closed by the foot pedal, so both hands hold the bag flat. The machine stands on its own column, 550 × 520 × 880 mm, and weighs about 20 kg. It is a floor machine, not a table one.

It runs from a normal 110 V or 220 V socket at 800 W, with an earthed three-wire supply. There is no compressed air and nothing to set up.

What an impulse seal gives you

• A cold bar between bags. The wire heats only during the seal, so nobody burns a hand on the bar and the machine does not warm the room.
• 450 mm in one press. A wide bag mouth is closed in a single seal, without moving the bag along the bar.

How a seal is made

1. Switch the machine on and set the heating time for the film you are sealing.
2. Hold the filled bag with the mouth flat across the sealing bar.
3. Press the foot pedal: the jaws close and the wire heats for the set time.
4. Wait one to two seconds after the light goes out, so the seal cools under the jaws.
5. Peel the bag away sideways, from left and right, not towards you.

Settings and care

• Heating time. 0 to 2.5 s. Start short and add tenths until the seal holds; too long and the film burns through.
• Bag position. The mouth lies flat across the whole bar, without folds. A fold is where a bag opens later.
• After the seal. Wait one to two seconds before you take the bag, and pull it away sideways. Pulling it forward while the seal is soft tears it open.
• Never seal empty. Closing the jaws with nothing between them burns the PTFE cloth.
• Cleaning. Keep the bar and the cloth free of melted film and never clean them wet. Do not scrape hardened film off with anything hard.
• Wear parts. The PTFE cloth, the heating wire and the top pressure pad are wear parts; a damaged pad makes the seal uneven.

Choosing ZONE450F for your packaging

In production planning, consider the bag sizes, the number of bags to be sealed per shift, and the types of products being packed. It is not suitable for sealing liquids or powders that can spill onto the sealing bar, as residue can damage the PTFE cloth and reduce seal quality.

The price is on this page. A sealer is bought for the bag it has to close, so check these before you order:

• Bag width. Up to 450 mm in one press. For wider bags take ZONE600F with a 600 mm bar.
• Film. Impulse suits PE, PP and multi-layer film. For aluminium-laminated or thick bags take the constant heat ZONE300D.
• Seal width. 2 to 5 mm. For a wide seal that carries weight, ZONE300D seals 14 mm.
• Floor or table. This machine stands on its own column at working height; it is not a table model.
• Supply. 110 V or 220 V, 800 W, earthed socket.
• Delivery. The machine travels in a crate of 790 × 545 × 257 mm, about 22 kg.
