A4 is a sealless steel strapping tool: it tensions the steel strap and joins its ends by punching them into each other, so no seals are needed.

It takes steel strap 25 to 32 mm wide and 0.55–0.75 mm thick, and tensions it to about 8000 N.

How the strap is closed

1. Put the steel strap round the package and hold its end firmly with the left hand.
2. Feed the strap into the tool.
3. Move the tension lever back and forth until the strap is tight.
4. Push the sealing handle forward to make the joint, then back to the start.
5. Lift the handle to release the tool from the strap.

Adjustment and safety

• Strap width. The tool is made for steel strap 25–32 mm wide; the width is set with the strap stop and guide.
• Strap thickness. Set by loosening a screw and turning the adjustment plate on the side of the tool.
• Steel only. The tool is made for steel strap; plastic strap cannot be used.
