Clips for pneumatic steel strapping

Clips for pneumatic steel strapping in four sizes from 16 to 32 mmThese are clips for steel strapping made for pneumatic tools. The clip goes over the two overlapping ends of the strap and the sealer crimps it; the notched steel is what holds the load after the tool lets go.

They come in four sizes: 16 × 40, 19 × 57, 25 × 57 and 32 × 57 mm, which cover the steel strap widths used in industry: 16, 19, 25 and 32 mm.

The joint is made in a fixed order: the strap is tensioned with the pneumatic tensioner until the load is held, then the sealer is closed on the clip and its jaws notch the clip into both strap ends and lock them. The loose end is cut and the crimp is checked: the notches must be even on both sides of the clip. There is no heat and no weld in the joint, and nothing that ages.

The clip and the strap must be the same width: a clip that is too wide will not close, and one that is too narrow has nothing to hold. Worn sealer jaws leave shallow notches and the joint opens under load, so the notches are checked on the first joint of every shift. A pneumatic tool at the wrong pressure under-tensions the strap, and crimping a loose strap gives a joint that slips under the first bump. The clips are kept dry, because bare steel rusts and a rusted clip crimps badly. Gloves and glasses are worn, because a tensioned steel strap springs when cut and the cut edge is sharp.

Clip crimped over two overlapping ends of steel strappingThe steel is high-strength carbon steel, chosen for the tension a pneumatic tensioner puts into the strap: it deforms where the sealer bites and does not crack or release under the pull.

This is the consumable for heavy, rigid loads. Steel sections, castings, coils, pipes, timber and bricks. Where the strap has to survive edges, weather and rough handling.

Clips for pneumatic steel strapping: typical uses and industries

Clips for pneumatic steel strapping are used in industrial and logistics environments where heavy, rigid or high-value loads require secure mechanical fastening. Typical users include manufacturing plants, metal processing facilities, timber yards, construction material distributors and export-oriented logistics centers. These clips are chosen for operations that handle steel coils, metal profiles, timber bundles, construction materials, pallets with machinery components and industrial goods prepared for long-distance shipment. They are part of workflows where load stability, safety compliance and repeatable process quality are critical.

The clips are integrated into packing lines that use pneumatic tensioners and sealers, supporting high-throughput strapping of pallets and bundles. Their use is common in sectors where loads are exposed to vibration, handling stress or transport conditions that demand a mechanical joint capable of withstanding dynamic forces.

What the clip does

  • Made for high tension. A pneumatic tensioner pulls harder than a hand tool; carbon steel of this grade takes that pull without cracking at the crimp.
  • Four widths. 16, 19, 25 and 32 mm are the standard steel strap widths, so one range covers every load on the yard.
  • The joint holds by shape. The sealer cuts the clip into the strap. There is no heat, no weld and nothing that ages.
  • For loads plastic cannot take. Sharp edges, hot surfaces, heavy castings and coils end a PET strap; steel and a steel clip do not care.
  • Fast with a pneumatic tool. Tension and seal are two pulls of a trigger, which is what makes the difference over a shift of heavy pallets.
  • One clip per joint. The consumable cost per pallet is a number you can put in a calculation before you order.

Sizes

  • Clips for steel strapping, open type, for overlapping strap ends
  • Sizes 16 × 40, 19 × 57, 25 × 57 and 32 × 57 mm
  • For steel strapping 16, 19, 25 and 32 mm wide
  • High-strength carbon steel
  • For pneumatic tensioners and sealers
  • Crimped joint, one clip per joint, single use
  • For steel, castings, coils, pipes, timber and bricks

How the joint is made

  1. Lay the steel strapping around the load and overlap the two ends.
  2. Slide the clip of the matching width over both ends.
  3. Tension the strap with the pneumatic tensioner until the load is held.
  4. Close the sealer on the clip: the jaws notch the clip into both strap ends and lock them.
  5. Cut the loose end and check the crimp, the notches must be even on both sides of the clip.

Handling and storage

  • Width before everything. The clip and the strap must be the same width. A clip that is too wide will not close, one that is too narrow has nothing to hold.
  • Tension. The clip keeps what the tool puts in. Crimping a loose strap gives a joint that slips under the first bump.
  • Sealer jaws. Worn jaws leave shallow notches and the joint opens under load. Check the notches on the first joint of every shift.
  • Air supply. A pneumatic tool at the wrong pressure under-tensions the strap, and the joint takes the blame for it.
  • Keep them dry. Bare steel rusts. A rusted clip crimps badly and marks the goods.
  • Gloves and glasses. A tensioned steel strap springs when cut and the cut edge is sharp.

Before you order

Clips for steel strapping with a pneumatic tensioner and sealerThe price is on this page. Clips are bought for the strap and the tool, so check these before you order:

  • Strap width. 16, 19, 25 or 32 mm, the clip must match. Say the width when you order.
  • Quantity. One clip per joint. Count the joints per pallet and the pallets per week and order the quantity, not a box.
  • Your tool. These are for pneumatic tensioners and sealers. For a hand tool on 16 mm strap there is a box of 1000 manual clips.
  • Sealless tools. A3, A4 and BO-51 cut the two strap ends into each other and need no clips at all.
  • Steel or plastic. If the load is not hot, sharp or extremely heavy, a PET strap and a battery tool cost less per pallet.
  • Storage. Dry and indoors, so the steel does not rust before it is used.

Which steel strap widths do these clips support?

They are available in sizes matching 16 mm, 19 mm, 25 mm, and 32 mm steel strap widths.

Are these clips reusable after sealing?

No, these clips permanently deform during sealing and must be replaced for each new strapping cycle.

What material are the clips made from?

They are made from high-strength carbon steel to resist deformation and ensure durable joint performance.

Can these clips be used with manual strapping tools?

No, they are specifically designed for pneumatic strapping tools to handle higher and consistent sealing forces.

How critical is selecting the correct clip size?

Correct size selection is essential to ensure proper sealing force, joint strength, and to prevent strap slippage.

Are these clips compatible with different brands of pneumatic tools?

Yes, they are compatible with most standard pneumatic steel strapping tools designed for the corresponding strap width.

What industries typically use these clips?

They are commonly used in logistics, metal processing, timber packaging, construction, heavy manufacturing, and export shipping.
