Squeegee rubber strips for the J45

These are the squeegee rubber strips for the J45 floor scrubber: the front and the rear strip of the squeegee, which gather the water behind the brush so the suction motor can lift it off the floor.

The front strip measures 850 × 47 × 3.2 mm and the rear strip 900 × 50 × 4.2 mm, for the machine’s 800 mm squeegee.

The strips are a planned wear part: they wear like the brush, and a spare set on the shelf keeps the machine drying. The set replaces both strips of the squeegee at once. The front and rear strips differ in size, so they are not interchangeable, and the J25, J85 and J115 have their own strips, so the strips are ordered by machine. They are used in industrial and commercial cleaning, in warehouses, production areas, logistics centers, healthcare buildings and schools, by in-house teams or by contractors maintaining several locations.

To change a strip, the operator switches off the machine, lifts the squeegee, opens buckle 2 for the front strip or buckle 1 for the rear strip and takes off the steel plate. The old strip comes off, the new one goes on, the plate is put back and the buckle is locked; if the plate sits loose, the nut at the top of the buckle is turned. The squeegee is then lowered and tried on a wet patch, and the floor behind the machine must be dry. The squeegee height is set with the washers under the castor supports.

They decide whether the floor is dry behind the machine. When a strip is worn or dirty, the 500 W suction motor draws air instead of water, and the floor is left wet and slippery.

Each strip is held on the squeegee by a steel plate and a buckle, so it is changed without special tools.

How the strips are changed

1. Switch off the machine and lift the squeegee.
2. Open buckle 2 for the front strip or buckle 1 for the rear strip, and take off the steel plate that holds the strip.
3. Take off the old strip and put on the new one.
4. Put the steel plate back and lock the buckle; if the plate sits loose, turn the nut at the top of the buckle.
5. Lower the squeegee and try it on a wet patch: the floor behind the machine must be dry.

Care and adjustment

• Squeegee height. A strip that presses too hard makes the machine heavy to push; one that sits too high leaves water behind. The height is set with the washers under the castor supports.
• A tilted squeegee. If one side is lower, loosen the nut on the squeegee screw, straighten it and tighten the nut again.
• Clean strips. Wipe dirt off the strips with a wet cloth; debris under a strip leaves water behind.
• After work. Lift the squeegee and wipe off the dirt it leaves; clean the squeegee, the strips and the brush every three days.
• A firm fit. A strip that is not fixed firmly lets air in, and the machine stops drying.
• When to replace. A worn edge no longer seals; that is when the new strips go on.

• The machine. These strips are for the J45. The J25, J85 and J115 have their own strips; order by the machine.
• Front and rear. The front strip is 850 × 47 × 3.2 mm and the rear strip 900 × 50 × 4.2 mm, so they are not interchangeable.
• A spare set. Keep one set on the shelf, so a worn strip does not stop the machine.
• The brush too. The brush wears along with the strips; look at it when you change them.
