The Challenge

A high-throughput metal components factory near Brno was running two daily cleaning shifts with a Commercial Floor Scrubber J45 to keep three production halls (total 8 400 m²) compliant with internal 5S and customer audit standards. Expanding to a fourth hall would have required either another machine or overtime. Management compared the familiar J45 with the Industrial Floor Scrubber J85 to see if a single, higher-capacity unit and one operator could reliably cover all halls within a single shift.

Key decision factors were: real cleaning productivity, tank capacities (break frequency), battery runtime, and the payback period on the higher investment for the J85.

Product B: Commercial Floor Scrubber J45

The Commercial Floor Scrubber J45 delivers a rated cleaning efficiency of 2100 m²/h with a 510 mm cleaning width and 800 mm drying width. Its 45 L solution tank and 55 L recovery tank support medium-sized areas before refilling is needed.

At 60% of rated capacity (realistic for obstacles, aisle turns and operator breaks), the J45 effectively cleans about 1260 m²/h. Over one 8-hour shift this equals roughly 10 080 m²/day, but in practice the factory had to split work across two shifts to avoid interfering with production changeovers. While the J45’s 3–4 h runtime suits retail and smaller sites, its tank volume and industrial robustness limited it as the sole machine for heavy-duty factory cleaning.

Product A: Industrial Floor Scrubber J85

The Industrial Floor Scrubber J85 steps up to 3550 m²/h working efficiency with the same 510 mm cleaning width but a wider 860 mm squeegee for faster water recovery. Its 85 L solution tank and 90 L recovery tank are almost double the J45’s capacity, drastically cutting refill and dump stops.

At 60% of rated capacity, the J85 delivers around 2130 m²/h, enabling about 17 040 m² of real cleaning per 8-hour shift. This comfortably covers the factory’s 8 400 m² existing area plus the new hall with margin for spot cleaning. With a robust 550 W brush motor, 600 W vacuum motor, 3–3.5 h continuous runtime and industrial-grade anti-seepage protection, the J85 is engineered for demanding environments and multi-level facilities.

ROI & Value Analysis

Product B Performance:

Product A Performance:

The J85 processes roughly 6 960 m² more per shift than the J45 at 60% utilisation, allowing the factory to move from two cleaning shifts to one while adding floor area.

Investment Comparison:
Product B price: €1549
Product A price: €2889
Price difference: €1340
Daily savings with Product A: €200/day in labor (cutting from 16 h to 8 h)
Payback on price difference: under 1 month of normal operation

Even if the J85 is used only 3 days per week, the upgrade pays back in under 3 months. After payback, the factory enjoys recurring labor savings of about €1000/month at 5 operating days per week.

Verdict

Choose Product B if your budget is under €1600, your total floor area stays below 4000 m², and cleaning can be comfortably handled in a single light-duty shift without strict production windows.

Choose Product A if you run medium to large industrial sites, need to cover multiple halls in one shift, want to minimise operator hours, and value industrial-grade protection and tank capacity. For high-throughput factories, the Industrial Floor Scrubber J85 is the clear choice, converting a modest extra purchase cost into rapid labor savings and higher cleaning reliability.

“Upgrading from the J45 to the J85 let us consolidate two cleaning shifts into one while adding a new production hall. We recovered the cost difference in a few weeks and now keep the lines cleaner with less overtime.” — Jan Novak, Production Manager, MetalForm s.r.o., Brno (CZ)
