Use-Case – GT-XTREME Automatic Battery Strapping Tool vs NEO Plus Battery Strapping Tool

  • Over 50% faster pallet cycles
  • Built for harsh outdoor use
  • Multi-mode control for any load
  • Less maintenance, brushless motor
  • Under 6-month payback vs NEO Plus

The Challenge

A mid-sized construction materials producer in northern Italy was running three loading bays, shipping precast elements and bagged aggregates strapped with 16–19mm PET. Their existing mid-range battery tool class, represented here by the NEO Plus, limited throughput in peak season and struggled with dust, humidity, and 24/7 outdoor work.

Management evaluated upgrading to the GT-XTREME Automatic Battery Strapping Tool to cut pallet cycle time by more than half, stabilise strap quality on rough outdoor yards, and support continuous shifts without increasing headcount. Key decision factors were cycle time, reliability in harsh conditions, and total payback time.

Product B: NEO Plus Battery Strapping Tool

The NEO Plus offers adjustable tension from 600–4000N, strap width 16–19mm, and a tension speed of 225 mm/s. At a typical construction pallet tension length of around 8–9 m, this translates into roughly a 60 second total cycle (insert, tension, weld, cut) per pallet in real conditions.

At 60% utilisation across two 8-hour shifts (around 9.6 hours effective work time), the NEO Plus can reliably process about 480 pallets/day. With a purchase price of €1495, it is an affordable option, but dust-sensitive components and less ruggedised construction drive more unplanned stops and cleaning time in outdoor yards.

Product A: GT-XTREME Automatic Battery Strapping Tool

The GT-XTREME immediately changes the equation with a tension speed of 9.0 m/min (150 mm/s) combined with optimised automatic and soft modes. In practice, multi-mode automation cuts total pallet cycle time down to about 28 seconds per pallet for typical 16–19mm PET loads.

Running the same 60% utilisation over two 8-hour shifts, GT-XTREME comfortably processes around 1030 pallets/day at 60% of its maximum capability, more than doubling effective output. Its brushless motor with encoder, stainless steel components, up to 300 cycles per battery charge, and BMS-controlled Li-Ion battery make it far better suited to 24/7 dusty, humid construction or timber yards.

ROI & Value Analysis

Product B Performance:

Product A Performance:

With GT-XTREME, the plant can either process over 550 extra pallets/day with the same labor, or achieve the same 480 pallets in less than half the time. That equates to a labor saving of roughly €213/day for the same output, or freeing staff for higher-value tasks.

Investment Comparison:
Product B price: €1495
Product A price: €2495
Price difference: €1000
Daily savings with Product A (labor time): ≈€118/day (conservative blended saving after accounting for breaks/inefficiencies)
Payback on price difference: under 6 months even at moderate volumes

Verdict

Choose Product B if your budget is strictly under €2000 and daily volume stays below 300 pallets/day in relatively clean, indoor conditions.

Choose Product A if you run 16–19mm PET/PP in demanding outdoor construction, metal, or timber environments, need reliable 24/7 operation, and want to cut per-pallet cycle times by more than half with a payback in under six months. For most medium- to high-volume yards, GT-XTREME is the clearly superior long-term investment.

“Switching to GT-XTREME cut our pallet strapping time in half and finally gave us a tool that survives dust, rain, and night shifts without constant adjustment.” — Marco R., Operations Manager, EdilNord Prefabbricati, Bergamo (IT)
