Use-Case Report — ECOBAND-A Automatic Banding Machine (installed in an EU printing facility)

  • 500–600 bundles per hour
  • Labour cost cut to 0.05 €
  • 15–20× throughput improvement
  • Payback achieved in 2–3 months
  • One operator handles full capacity

Before Implementation (Manual Bundling)

A mid-sized print and packaging plant in Austria bundled brochures, instruction leaflets and small boxes manually.
One operator wrapped a paper band by hand, tightened it with a basic tensioner, sealed it, cut it and moved the bundle away.

Real work rate before machine

This slow process created queues, inconsistent tension, fatigue and occasional rework because of loose bands.

After Implementation (ECOBAND-A)

The machine was installed in line with packing tables. One operator now places the bundle in the arch, presses start, machine feeds, tensions and seals automatically. The operator removes the banded pack and inserts the next.

The ECOBAND-A has a maximum of 20 bands/minute (1,200/hour).
The plant runs the machine at only 60% of output = 12 bands/minute (720/hour)
This reflects real limits from manual placement, removal, band roll changes and irregular batch flow.

Actual steady production after setup: 500–600 bundles/hour
This includes delays from:

New labour cost per bundle ~0.05 €

ROI Calculation

Machine price: 5,899 €.
Savings per 1,000 bundles:

If the plant bundles 50,000 units/year:

Payback period:
5,899 € ÷ 39,150 € ≈ 0.15 years → 2–3 months

Even at half of the above saving, ROI remains within 6 months.

Conclusion

The ECOBAND-A removed bottlenecks, multiplied output more than 15×, improved finish quality and reduced fatigue. The investment paid back rapidly and stabilized the packaging line.

Testimonial

“Before ECOBAND-A we barely cleared 300 bundles a day. Now we achieve over 4,000, even while running the machine at only sixty percent. Labour costs dropped sharply and the team is less exhausted. This is one of our highest-impact upgrades.”
Lukas Steiner, Production Manager, Austria
