A450 automatic side sealer

A450 is an automatic side sealer: the pack runs on the conveyor into a centre-folded film, and the machine seals the film along the side and cuts and seals it in front of and behind the pack, up to 30 packs a minute.

Because the side seal runs continuously, the length of the pack is not limited. The pack has to be under 150 mm high, with width plus height under 420 mm; the smallest pack is 50 × 50 × 20 mm.

It works with PE, POF or PVC centre-folded film 0.015–0.10 mm thick. The wrapped pack then goes through a shrink tunnel, where the film shrinks tight around the product.

The machine runs on 220 V, 50/60 Hz, 1.35 kW, and needs compressed air at about 0.5 MPa. A servo motor drives the cutter, and a waste-film wheel winds up the film trimmed at the side.

Where the A450 automatic side sealer is used

The A450 automatic side sealer is used in industries such as wood products, hardware, food, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. It is suited for medium to high volume packaging lines where products need to be wrapped in shrink film for protection, presentation, or bundling. Typical goods include long, narrow items such as profiles, trays, cartons and multipacks that fit within the machine’s size limits.

The machine is often integrated after upstream production or assembly processes and before a shrink tunnel. It can be installed as part of a fully automated line or used as a stand-alone unit for batch or continuous packaging. Its ability to handle products of varying lengths and shapes makes it suitable for operations with changing product formats.

What the side sealer does for your packing

• Any length. The side seal runs with the pack, so long items are wrapped as easily as short ones.
• Up to 30 packs a minute. The pack is fed, wrapped, sealed and cut without an operator in between.

How to use the A450 side sealer

1. Connect the compressed air (10 mm hose) and check that the gauge shows about 5 kg/cm².
2. Put the centre-folded film on the film holder with the open side towards the machine and thread it over the film triangle; the film width is the pack width plus twice its height plus 50 mm.
3. Set the conveyor height with the hand wheel and the width with the pull handle to the size of the pack.
4. Switch on, let the sealing knives reach their temperature and choose vertical or horizontal detection.
5. Start automatic mode: the machine wraps, seals and cuts each pack and sends it on to the shrink tunnel.

Settings and maintenance

• Sealing temperature. About 180 °C; it depends on the film thickness and on the room temperature.
• Sealing time. 0–3 s, set on the panel together with the film feed and the cutter speed.
• Film width. Pack width + 2 × pack height + 50 mm.
• Air. The gauge shows about 5 kg/cm²; the supply must not exceed 6 kg/cm² in operation.
• Daily care. Clean the sealing knife with a soft cloth while it is still warm, and drain the water from the air filter regularly.

Choosing and operating the A450 automatic side sealer: points to check

Before choosing the A450, check the size and shape of your products, the type and thickness of shrink film you use, and the available space for installation. Irregular or unstable products may require guides or trays for smooth feeding.

Common mistakes include using film that is too narrow or too thick for the product, setting sealing temperature or time incorrectly, or neglecting regular cleaning of the sealing knives. To avoid downtime, check film threading and keep the sealing area clean. When changing product sizes, adjust the conveyor and film guides to prevent jams or poor seals.
