AUTOBOX10 is an automatic case erector: it takes a flat carton from the magazine, opens it, folds the bottom flaps, tapes the bottom and sends the open carton out on its belts: 10–15 cartons a minute.

It handles cartons from 200 × 200 × 150 mm to 500 × 400 × 350 mm (length × width × height), with length + width under 900 mm and half the width + height under 550 mm.

The bottom is closed with 50 or 60 mm tape (75 mm on request). A servo sets the carton width; up to ten carton widths are stored, so a change of carton means choosing its number on the touch screen and setting the guides, belts and suction cups.

The machine runs on 220 V, 50 Hz, single phase, with a European plug, and needs compressed air at about 0.5 MPa. The open cartons leave at a table height of 650 mm.

What the case erector does for your packing line

• 10–15 cartons a minute. The carton is picked, opened, folded, taped and sent out without an operator, the magazine only has to be filled with flat cartons.
• Bottom taped in the same pass. The front flap, the rear flap and the side flaps are folded in turn and the bottom is taped, so the carton leaves ready to be filled.
• Ten carton widths stored. The servo sets the width for the carton number chosen on the touch screen.
• Counter with automatic stop. Set how many cartons you need; the machine stops at that number.
• Manual step mode. For setting up and troubleshooting, each step can be run one at a time from the touch screen.
• Single-phase supply. 220 V with a European plug, plus a compressed-air connection.

The operator’s main tasks are to load flat cartons into the magazine, select the correct carton number on the touch screen, and monitor the supply of tape and air. During changeover, the operator adjusts the guides, belts and suction cups to match the new carton size, following the stored settings. The open cartons leave at a fixed table height, so the conveyor that takes them has to be matched to it.

How to use the AUTOBOX10 case erector

1. Connect the power and the compressed air and set the main air regulator to about 0.5 MPa.
2. Switch on the main switch and run the servo return to origin and the cylinder reset on the touch screen until both origin lights are on.
3. Choose the carton number on the touch screen and set the guides, the belts and the suction cups for the carton.
4. Fill the magazine with flat cartons and enter how many cartons you need.
5. Press Automatic: the machine takes, opens, folds, tapes and sends out the cartons until the counter is reached.

Settings and maintenance

• Carton width. Stored for up to ten carton numbers; the servo moves to the width of the number chosen.
• Guides and belts. The magazine rails, the belt width, the pressing plate and the suction cups are set to the carton size by hand, in the order given in the manual.
• Air. The main regulator is set to about 0.5 MPa; with too little or too much air the carton is not formed cleanly. The cylinder speed valves are for trained staff only.
• Before starting. Automatic work starts only when the servo and the cylinders are at their origin.
• Safety. Switch off the power and disconnect the air before any work on the mechanics.

Choosing and Operating AUTOBOX10: What to Check and Common Issues

Before selecting AUTOBOX10, confirm that all carton sizes used in your line fit within the specified range and limits. Check the carton material for stiffness and surface finish, as very soft or slippery cartons may affect suction and forming. Ensure that the available compressed air supply is stable and clean, as pressure fluctuations can cause incomplete forming or taping.

Common mistakes include setting the wrong carton number, misaligning the guides or belts, or running with low tape. These can lead to jams, poorly formed cartons or missed taping. To avoid downtime, follow the adjustment sequence in the manual and do not change pneumatic settings unless trained.

For integration into an existing line, allow space for operator access to the magazine and controls. Plan for regular cleaning and inspection of moving parts.
